John Richards Child papers, 1731-1895.

Seaman. Letters from Child to his wife, describing visits to Boston, a journal (1810-15) written while on a voyage to and from Canton, China, describing his duties as a seaman on the ship Hunter and his capture at Macao by the British frigate Doris and transfer to the ship America for passage home; together with genealogical records and other papers of the families of Benjamin Child (d.1678) and Ezra Davis.
